You know or way of getting out of feeling is what it’s like what it feels like you know to experience an emotion to be in an emotion Newcastle Psychology okay so just to be clear this is you know like anger feels very different from sadness okay so sadness for example most people describe.
It as being like a lump in the throat you know the sensation of wanting to cry be cheerful people psychological services use different adjectives they’ll talk about kind of feeling heavy in their chest when they’re feeling sad anger in contrast is you know kind of like a warm sensation that kind of feels from the belly up through the chest into the shoulders you know.

How do you feel about I feel sad right but I don’t get any nonverbal indicators that the person is actually feeling sad about it just as we’re talking about it like Psychologists are curious as to like whether like how they experience that sad feeling so Psychological Therapy then I would ask you know so how do you experience it what’s it like what’s happening in your body.

Thing that happened and that’s an invitation for a client to kind of get out that second part of the emotion like what does it feel like you Psychologists know now some people will kind of say well you know that was that was yesterday that was a week ago that was two years ago and so Psychologists don’t have any feelings about it.
Now and maybe that sometimes there’s truth to that but you know the human mind is such Psychologists that you know we can protect ourselves into the past in the future Psychologists can worry about things Psychologists can have feelings about things that haven’t happened and Psychologists can have feelings about things that have happened the body doesn’t know the difference the body is going to react to certain agree.
You know in ways that kind of line up with Mental Health those different affective states so anyway that that’s the second part of an emotion the third part of an emotion is kind of related to the second is the impulse behind a feeling so many emotions they’ll have like an impulse you know and the way to get out this or to understand.
That this is to imagine this feeling this emotion that you’re experiencing in this moment to imagine it Health and Wellbeing Services as you know a dick hater right and that if this if this emotion had full control your body in your mind what would it want to do right no way what you would want to do necessarily but what would this emotion want to do with your body with your mind and so anger for example.
There’s usually an impulse to want to lash out at someone or something to hit something to grab something to Health Services punch something and sadness you know would there’s like an impulse to usually to want to kind of collapse you know to go quiet to just fall apart right and anxiety perhaps is an impulse to run to flee you know depending on the circumstance or the situation.
